Übersicht

The Operational Suitability Data (OSD) Expert is responsible for the development, management, and certification of OSD in accordance with applicable airworthiness regulations. This role ensures that training, maintenance, and operational data support the safe and effective entry into service of an aircraft or aircraft modification and meet the requirements of certification authorities.

Verantwortlichkeiten

  • Develop, manage, and maintain Operational Suitability Data (OSD) in compliance with applicable regulations (e.g., EASA CS-OSD, FAA OSD requirements).
  • Define and substantiate OSD elements including:
    • Flight Crew Training (FCT)
    • Maintenance Training (MT)
    • Master Minimum Equipment List (MMEL)
    • Aircraft Operating Manual (AOM) data
    • Type Rating and Differences Training
  • Coordinate OSD activities across engineering, flight test, training, maintenance, and certification teams.
  • Act as focal point for OSD matters with certification authorities and support OSD approval and validation activities.
  • Support aircraft certification, entry into service (EIS), and continued operational suitability.
  • Assess the operational and training impact of aircraft design changes and modifications.
  • Ensure consistency between OSD, Type Certificate Data Sheet (TCDS), Aircraft Flight Manual (AFM), and other approved documentation.
  • Support development of training concepts, simulators, and operational procedures.
  • Prepare and review compliance reports, certification plans, and OSD deliverables.
  • Participate in certification meetings, audits, and reviews related to OSD.

Working Environment

  • Primarily office-based with frequent interaction across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Participation in certification meetings and authority reviews.
  • Occasional travel to training centers, simulators, or authority locations.

Qualifikationen

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Aviation, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent operational experience.

Erforderliche Fähigkeiten

  • Background as a pilot, maintenance engineer, instructor, or certification specialist.
  • Knowledge of flight operations, simulators, and training device qualification.
  • Experience in entry-into-service support.

Gewünschte Fähigkeiten

  • Strong knowledge of aircraft operations, training, and maintenance concepts.
  • Familiarity with EASA and/or FAA OSD requirements.
  • Ability to interpret and apply airworthiness and operational regulations.
  • Excellent coordination, documentation, and communication skills.

Erfahrung

  • Experience with aircraft certification processes and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience interfacing directly with certification authorities.
  • Experience working with OSD on a type certification or major modification program.
